Xielann was born into a wealthy Ul'dah Trader family by the name of the Darkholmes 43 summers past; a family that over time had brought their family head a seat on a Lesser Syndicate whilst, also, being one of the few Royally inclined.Xielann was schooled in the ways of etiquette and commerce during the day while at the night his suavity aided him greatly during the lavish parties he attended with his peers.Born with a silver spoon in his mouth and wanting for nothing, it would seem that fate could no longer tolerate such an imbalance; sickness struck the Darkholme house, through the blood-line claiming parents, aunts and uncles and cousins... none were spared. Bar Xielann; who, though was one of the last of his family to fall into a coma... was the only one out of them that awoke from it before it resulted in death.Inheriting both the advantages (including the Lesser Syndicate seat) and responsibilities of the entire family at age 22 Xielann set about making investments and securing the legacy of the family; continuing to support the Ul royal line while establishing luxury trade stalls and upper class Bordellos - the biggest and most known of which became the Gilded Lily - a place for the rich of Ul'dah to forget their troubles and sorrows.When the 7th Umbral calamity struck and many refugees flooded to Ul'dah's gates, he was one the first to assist in finding work for the people; mostly as servants for the rich and entertainers in the brothels... but since he paid a fair wage despite the nature of the work he was heralded as a philanthropist who saved many from starvation.Even now... with Garlean evacuees coming to afformentioned gates; he offers a chance for all to seize their new lives and dreams, while he earns a profit.Now middle-aged he mostly enjoys the comfort of his wealth while overseeing many a business venture - though as any respectful business man he keeps a keen and watchful eye for new or interesting projects to offer his investment and patronage to.(If you wish to know more; role-play with Xielann to find out!)

The Gilded Lily has a high turn-over of workers. They are paid well so without a doubt some move on to better lives but others, especially the low performing ones... seem to just disappear.(Suspicious)
It is not uncommon for Patrons to open up to Lilies during their exchanges - certainly nothing of note would ever be reported to Xielann, would it?(Suspicious)
He is known amongst his high class peers as being able to obtain rare or unique items such as Paintings and Artwork, Historical Artifacts and Aged Alcohol.(Secret)
Xielann isn't only a Patron to Traders and fledgling businesses but also more sordid endeavors and individuals like Mercenaries, Thieves, Pirates, Hingan crime group and other criminals.(Secret)
Because of his underworld ties he dabbles covertly in Human-Trafficking and Slavery, the trade of Somnus and Fogweed, and financially supporting Death Games as a means of entertainment.

He is the owner of the The Gilded Lily; a Pleasure House within Ul'dah city proper (and most recently also in Ishgard's residential district) - have you been? Maybe you've seen him ensuring the serenity of his business ventures and tending to his garden of Lilies.(Known)
Xielann is middle-man for the most part; purchasing finery then ensuring they reach the perfect people at the perfect time (For a premium price).
Artisan Furniture and luxury Household items, Wines and Liquors, rare Flora and Fauna, high quality Clothing and Jewelry; are all things he has and will aquire to sell on.
If your character has something they wish to sell he may know a buyer.(Known)
Years of commerce and the inheritance left with the death of all his family means he is a man with a surplus of both wealth and influence, especially in Ul'dah. But also recently Ishgard and Thavnair.
He seems keen to keep expanding both said wealth and influence, is your character looking for an investor and/or a Patron? Or requires assistance rebuilding after the Final Days?(Known)
Exquisitely groomed, perfectly scented, wearing both make-up and the finest vestments, it all culminates into an attractive man who carries himself with confidence; which is perhaps his most alluring trait.
His appearance is something he puts a lot of time and effort into; with his morning routine taking many an hour every single day. It and in a lot of ways; he - is extremely artificial as a result.(Known)
Xielann has never hidden his vices. Living a hedonistic life-style where he seeks to sample as many pleasurable things as possible be they; drink, food or flesh - the latter of which he has no sexual preference for, because why limit his experiences?
He embraces debauchery and seems interested in corrupting others so that they might get a taste for all the delicious things he has come to enjoy - would your character be tempted to sample some?(Known)
One of his favourite pass-times as a youth was fencing; a hobby he retains to this day, partially as a means to remain lean and healthy.
Though by no means is he a master of the sword the many years he has given to the art he is of an intermediate skill, perhaps one might wish to test his mettle?
